Light surface scratches on the foil of cards can often be lifted. Deeper Scratches can be improved but not always fully restored. When we repair Pokemon cards our main focus is on increasing the cards potential grade, visual appeal, and overall value.
This card was in pretty rough shape when it came in. It looked as if it had been stepped on, on carpet ( many of us know the feeling! ). This repair was done to make the card sleeve playable; meaning that the dents and creases prior to restoration could be felt through a sleeve, making it a marked card. Now it is perfectly flat, smooth, and ready to add some mana!
Oh Articuno… Who hurt you…? This Pokemon card repair was quite transformative. This type of foil damage is a combination of scuffing ( also known as fogging ) as well as light surface scratching.
This Pokemon card repair was so successful I forgot which corner was even originally damaged; as you’ll see in the second video I filmed the wrong side! Luckily we will have this one back from grading soon to show the final results of the restoration process. Stay tuned!
Foil clouding is incredibly prevelant in Magic the Gathering Cards. I suspect it has to do with how much they are played in comparison to Pokemon ( which is mainly just collected), De-Inking Sharpied borders is of-course possible, this is a pretty extreme example of sharpie removal!
The dreaded 3 ring biders of the 90s and early 00s. Luckily we have moved on to more efficent methods of storing cards. This Pokemon card repair will massively increase the surface grade of a card. Stay tuned Poliwrath is on his way back from grading soon!
Magic The Gathering Card Repair – Beta juggernaut. This card wont likely make it into a graded slab, But will however be back on the battlefield attacking for 5! Berserk x2?!
Topps Chrome Pokemon card repair. Very deep indent lifted from this Moltres and corner restored to sharp clean edge.
One of the most thrilling break throughs in my Pokemon card repair journery. Print lines are often the only thing holding back a PSA 9 from a PSA 10. Unfortunately not all print lines will fully lift, however many will.
Magic the Gathering card repair – Invasion Island. Another example of clouding. This has always been one of my favorite islands, Terese Nielsen is a wonderful artist.
Another example of print line removal. These Pokemon card repair s are so satisfying!
Repairing damaged Magic the Gathering Card Juzam Djinn. This was undoubtedly a 3 ring binder attack on the djnn. He’s flat and ready for some smashing in X-points now!
This is a good example of a Pokemon card repair that will take closer to two weeks to finish. For deep imprints such as these require many, many sessions and a lot of patience to lift.
Damaged Magic the Gathering card repair Revised Volcanic Island. Another card ready to go into a deck and no longer be considered marked!
This Pokemon card repair was especially satisfying as Dragonair has always been a favorite of mine. Will be back from grading around January of 2025. Stay tuned!
Not sure what caused this issue on the Gengar but I suspect it was from sitting in a binder for many, many years. Surface grade massively improved.
